UFC 230 Fighting Odds – Cormier vs. Lewis MMA Lines

UFC 230 Occurs on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York.

Heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier (21-1, 1 NC, 10 KOs, 4 SUBs) will defend his title against knockout artist Derrick Lewis (21-5, 18 KOs, 1 SUBs). The card issuers reside on starting 10pm ET.
Only one pay-per-view following the Khabib-McGregor superfight, the UFC is giving us a heavyweight title match. And it just so happens to feature one of UFC 229’s breakout star:»The Black Beast» himself, Derrick Lewis. It’s one matter to score a dramatic, last-second comeback win in a battle you were becoming dominated. However, Lewis topped that by following it up with the funniest post-fight meeting in UFC history, on the biggest night in UFC history.
That is one way of becoming a celebrity. And now, the one-dimensional knockout artist that never really seemed like a legitimate competitor is fighting for the title less than a month after taking a beating in the hands of Alexander Volkov. Daniel Cormier’s probably drooling at the notion of an easy paycheck. It is going to also be his first heavyweight title protection.
Regardless of the UFC declaring a banger of a scrap between middleweight hulks Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa, the massive Cuban has stated that the struggle will not be taking place. Though we really hope this contest happens, we are apt to trust that the fighter when they stated that they’re not prepared. Let us hope he heals up in time.
If those 185-pounders don’t get it on, there are still three mad good middleweight matchups to anticipate. The biggest of them is that a rematch between former winners Luke Rockhold and Chris Weidman, respectively ranked No. 2 and No. 3. Perennial contender Ronaldo»Jacare» Souza meets former WSOF champ David Branch, together with both guys jockeying for a title position. The division’s most fascinating prospect, Israel Adesanya, sets his undefeated record on the line against No. 6 Derek Brunson. Occasionally,»The Last Stylebender» looks like the second coming of a prime Anderson Silva, and everyone is hoping that this dude is for real.

UFC 230 Betting Lines, Predictions and Picks
Here is a weird story. In a meeting with MMAJunkie just days after the Volkov struggle, Lewis came out and stated he had no desire to headline UFC 230. That he’d already started eating breakfast snacks and his cardiovascular was nowhere near the level it needed to be at to realistically challenge for the title.
He finished that interview by saying that it’d take a giant paycheck to allow him to leap right into a title fight with a few of the best to ever do it. Later that afternoon, Dana White announced that Lewis will be battling for the title. Sounds like someone got PAID.
Still, the UFC’s greed is revealing here. Lewis was nearly finished multiple occasions, and it was clear he could not last five rounds. Now the UFC is placing him on a card under a month later? That’s known as tapping a celebrity turn. And while we love how honorable DC is, it sure seems like he is cherry picking here.
The previous time Weidman and Rockhold met, the AKA surfer boy cracked the prior All-American wrestler and took the belt from him. Time hasn’t softened the grudge between them both, and it was a close fight up until that point. Rockhold has since been knocked out two, suggesting that his chin is a severe weakness. Coincidentally, Weidman suffered two brutal knockouts as well before rebounding back against Kelvin Gastelum.
Both these middleweights are good everywhere, though they have different approaches in every stage. Rockhold’s submission grappling is topnotch, but Weidman is a stellar traditional wrestler. Weidman can box with the best of these, but Luke’s unorthodox kicks can do significant damage.
Ronaldo Souza can not appear to catch a rest. Among the very accomplished BJJ artists to ever enter the octagon, he’s been in multiple title eliminators, just to fall short in each one. Beating David Branch likely would not seal the bargain, but he could keep his name on a short list of worthy challengers. Branch could vault in the title mix by taking the well-regarded Brazilian.
Israel Adesanya has everything it takes to be a celebrity: an engaging character and more importantly, an electric fighting style. He’s clearly a special striker, landing all of eight limbs with exceptional accuracy and power. Obviously, like all great standup artists, he has to pass the wrestler evaluation, and Derek Brunson – a former collegiate wrestler – is more than qualified to dish that out.
