Karl Burke is convinced Laurens will be the»one to beat» if she goes to get a repeat victory in the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on Saturday week.
While the filly has only won one of her four races this season, the John Dance-owned four-year-old failed add to her Group One tally in Deauville.
Last time she out was just denied more than seven furlongs in York and despite defeat Burke believes she is quicker this term.
«This time last year she came to Leopardstown after running within a mile and a half at York and she had been a 10-1 shot at This year she’s the one to beat when she goes there in her normal form,» said Burke.
«We dropped her back to seven furlongs time to check her pace with a view to running in the Prix de la Foret on Arc weekend, however, Leopardstown has always been the significant target for the next half of her period.
«She’s a bigger, stronger mare this season and in my opinion, she’s become that bit faster.
«She’s been an awesome mare for everybody, our first traditional winner, and the welcome we obtained in Ireland this past year, we always wished to go back.»
Burke is also likely to have two additional runners on Irish Champions Weekend.
He advised irishchampionsweekend.ie:»Kelly’s Dino is most very likely to choose Kilternan Stakes. He also came out of the Ebor in shape. Raydiance (Irish Stallion Farms EBF»Sovereign Course» Handicap) is also on the ticket,»
